    Hello,

    Since you are carrying  Older version 11.0.4000

    We recommend you to upgrade the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager and all clients to Latest version.

    Since you are carrying old version, there would be 2 upgrades you will have to go through. Please check the steps below:

    1) From Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.4000  to Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.6005 (RU6a)

    http://service1.symantec.com/support/ent-security.nsf/854fa02b4f5013678825731a007d06af/6f5427dfdd4a0cc18825770400611b5a?OpenDocument

    2) From Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.6005 (RU6a) to Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.6200 (RU6 MP2)

    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH145428&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US&searchid=1293479302456

    Reason:---> check the Release Notes below:

    Release notes for Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.x and Symantec Network Access Control 11.0.x

    You need to upgrade first to RU6/RU6a then to RU6 MP2.

    Hi,

    I am not sure but following article says new release may launch.

    So if you could wait till this month (& If it released) then directly upgrade to new release (if recommended) it may be helpful for you.

    I'll try the upgrade paths listed above and appreciate all the prompt feedback. I want to do this for the reason of 2 new Windows 7 desktops in the envioronment that when installing the client on them, it fails and just rolls back with out installing the client.

    11.0.4 is not officially supported in Windows 7 sice it is having some known issues. This may be the reason for rooling back. But only for installing in Windows 7 clients you need not go for upgradation of SEPM.(Upgradation will give you a lot of fixes and new featues anyway). You can either add RU6 package to console and export corresponding client or you can install as unmanaged using RU6 package and connect it to server using sylink replacer...

    Hello,

    Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.4000 is not supported on Windows 7.

    A Nice Decision of Upgrade.

    Rafeeq, are you wanting for me to initiate this on the windows 7 machines? If so, after "look for sep_inst.log" what do you want for me to do? Won't upgrading the manager fix my installation issues on Windows 7 deployment?

    Thanks,

    In your case it is may be rolling back due to some bugs.Try installing unmanaged client using RU6a package so that we can differentiate the problem. There are lot of possibilities for rolling back.Form SEP_inst.log we can identify the exact cause of it...

    I will install the ru6a this afternoon then create a couple new packages and deploy them directly from the window7 pc's and see what happens. Now should i be removing any instance of the failed 11.0.4? if so, where do i go to remove?

    Thanks,

    Normally at the time of rolling back most of the things will be removed.Yoy may manually remove symantec folders and files manually from program files...

    Hello,

    You would not have to do that on any windows 7 machines as the SEP is not installed at all.

    However, for a quick check, go to Programs and Features in Windows 7 and check if there is any instance of Liveupdate installed on them.

    If there is, Uninstall Liveupdate.

    in the registry,

    Find

    HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders\AppData
    value=%APPDATA%

    and change it to

    HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders\AppData
    value=%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming

    Install SEP client again.

    Okay quick question once the manager is fully upgraded how do I push the new version out to the client?

    This will be the easiest method

    Upgrading clients by using AutoUpgrade
