Is Symantec Endpoint Protection v 12.0 compatible with the Windows 7?
Updated: 21 May 2010 | 5 comments
I had a few customer's ask me if the Symantec Small Business Edition 12.0 was compatible with the Windows 7 platform?
I did not find any documents online, but was able to install the client with no problems at all!
Do we have documents for the same?

Windows 7 support will be in
Windows 7 support will be in the next release of SEP 12 SBE. Look for that to come out in mid to late November.

SEP 12 can be installed on Windows 7 , but it is not supported and this point of time.
Windows 7 will be supported when the version of 12 RU1 is released
A version of Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition that includes support for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 will be released in the future.
Which versions of Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition will supported on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2?

Hi. I just upgraded my home
Hi.
I just upgraded my home network to Server 2008 R2 from Server 2003 R2 and at the same time i upgraded my 5 pc/laptops to WIndows 7 Pro 64bit.
All but 1 machine took the SEP SB 12 install perfectly and without issue. All i had to do was turn off all FIrewalls and reboot first.
One machine though... just would not install. No way, no how. I spent literally DAYS hunting and Googling for an answer and yesterday i found this which resolved my issue. One small registry tweak redirecting the temp folder. Amazing.... 8 hrs of sheer frustration and confusion as to "why" this was happening... and then all over in 10 seconds plus 1 reboot. :)
So, anyone reading this... i hope it helps not only answer the question that YES you can run SEP on Windows 7 but if you find that an install does a "rollback"... this will fix it (it did in my case).
Good Luck!

In the registry,
Find
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders\AppData
value=%APPDATA%
and change it to
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders\AppData
value=%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming
Install SEP client again
