    Hi We have observed that, After installation of Symantec antivirus we are facing outlook is working very slow issue.

     

    After disable outlook scanner feature from Symantec client machine its working properly. Please help to resolve this issue.

    have you try to install latest SEP 12.1.5 ?

    Seems many issue are resolved in SEPM 12.1.5

    Outlook Express cannot send or receive email when Internet Email Auto-Protect is enabled

    Fix ID: 3500332

    Symptom: Sending or receiving an email with Outlook Express results in error 0x800ccc0E when the Internet Email Auto-Protect feature is enabled.

    Solution: Resolved an issue in the SymTDI driver routing table lookup logic.

    Microsoft Outlook downloads full email instead of headers only when Symantec plugin is enabled

    Fix ID: 3155464

    Symptom: Microsoft Outlook is configured to download email headers only. When the Microsoft Outlook Auto-Protect plugin is loaded, Outlook downloads the full email.

    Solution: Modified the Microsoft Outlook Auto-protect plugin to skip processing the message when only headers are downloaded. The plugin then processes and scans full messages and attachments when Outlook downloads them

    First you need to get on 12.1.5 or at least test it out on an affected machine as this may clear it up.

    Second, do you have any AV scanning at your gateway? If so, you may not need to do this at the desktop level.

    SEP outlook plugin has been known to cause these sorts of issues.

    I would request you to migrate the Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 RU4 to Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 RU5.

    The Outlook plug-in should be used "only in very small offices or unmanaged deployments" and "the SEP plug-in adds provides very limited return for its resource usage". We recommend disabling the plug-in and running mail scannning on the server side.
