Symantec Endpoint replication with diferrent policy each server

    I have 2 sites of server management.It is lastest version 12.1.6 MP4.

Site A have 1 management server and 1 SQL server.

Site B have 2 management servers with load balancing and 1 SQL server.

In this case the site A and site B are not replicate.
And each site have different policy ,group client ,config at all.

I want to setup replicate and merge the config ,policy ,group client ,client status. Is it possible?

Because when I setup to replicate it notice that the existing on database will be delete ,that I don't need it to be.

Yes is not possible, since one of your Dabebase will be overwritten.

It will always overwrite the other, you should have decided during the initial stage, if you try to do it now, It will overwrite the other as there will be on DB replicating on the other.

We will have one console to manage both SEPMs right ?

Secondly if we are replicating only the policies and logs , can you guys share the apprximate size of the confugurations that will be replicated for 12.1.6 MP4 ?

    Thanks

Yes you will have one console to manage both the SEPMs, but the server where you are running the replication wizard, there all the data will be over written to that of the other SEPM.

that's something totally depends on your existing SEPM's log settings and the no of polices used. eventually it will be smaller as compared to when you are replicating the definitions and live updates. Also only ur first time replication will be transferring large amount of data and the subsequent replication will carry only the differential data.

Hi Praveen, so I am trying to understand the machanisim for replication, Is there going to be a ZIP file that will be replicated between both servers or in what form this data will be replicated between both servers?

    Thanks

Yes exactly. both your SEPM will check what are the changes it has recorded since the last time replication (ex policy change, client checking in, logs) and it will create a zip file in the sepm directory's replication\outbox folder.

First lets say your SEPM a sends the zip file across the network to SEPM B, your SEPM B will process the zip file and update its database with the changes that has been recorded by SEPM A (only the latest change compared to what it already has in its own database). then again then same process repeats from SEPM B to SEPM A.

the key point here to remember is only the latest change will be accepted and updated at both the ends. lets say client A communicates to SEPM A at 2 PM and the same client A communicates to SEPM b at 5 PM and goes ofline. now after the successful replication at 6 PM both your SEPM will show that the client A's last time status change record at 3 PM (rather than 2 PM as per SEPM A records prior to replication)

    hope this clears the air.

    Hello,

Replication will not merge the database. It will wipe out existing database and simply replicate database from another SEPM. If you still wish to replicate need to move all the clients to another SEPM, move policies manually etc. Once all the clients started communication successfully into the SEPM can initiate replication.

If it's not a business requirement i will say continue with the existing setup.
