I have an issue where Endpoing keeps starting up disabled. This only started happening after I upgraded to the latest version. 11.0.4202.75. This is happening sporadically enterprise-wide. Symantec's solution is to run a repair or reinstall. It seems to fix it temporarily but then the issue comes back. Anyone else have this issue? I have Internet Email and Outlook Email enabled. I have disabled Lotus Notes Email as we do not have Lotus Notes anymore. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like when you disabled Lotus Notes Email Protection that you disabled it within the policy. This is great except that if you forgot to set the "Lock" icon to the left of the checkbox to the "Locked" position then the client will report it as an error instead of something you intended which would then cause the shield icon to show the disabled status.

This document will explain it in better detail and how to correct it if this is the case:

Title: 'How to disable the "Fix" button notification after turning off email scanning in Symantec Endpoint Protection.'

    Hope that helps!

I think your machine is infected of a virus, try to perform a network scan. I have experience this before the virus that affect our machine is w32.sality.ae

I need a little clarification on what you mean by "SEP starts up disabled". Was it a specific component that is starting up disabled or SEP as a whole? I am assuming you meant exactly what David is referring to above with outlook protection starting up disabled. If that is the case then his answer should take care of your problem. If you mean that SEP is starting up with the red x for a while (which would indicate that a part of it is disabled) then it could mean something else entirely. So if you could be a little more clear that would be great (best case is a screen shot if you can manage it).

    Thanks,
