  • 1.  Symantec Endpoint won't deploy in Hyper-V

    Posted Mar 13, 2011 08:27 PM

My parent is Server 2008 R2. I have SBS 2008 R2 running as a VM. Symantec Endpoint is installed on SBS 2008 and the client is installed on the SBS VM. When I try to deploy installation packages, the deploymet fails. If I install the Symantec installation package locally, it does not get updates from the SBS server.

The firewall on the SBS server appears to have all the correct ports open for Symantec services. I also disabled the firewall on ther Server 2008 R2 parent but that did not make any difference. Any suggestions?

I am not onsite right now but the client on the Endpoint Server is updating fine and has a green check.  This is running on the VM.  From the SEP console I can detect unmanaged clients on the detwork but when I try to deploy an install package the deployment fails.

I installed the install package locally but the clients will not get updates from the server,  The client does not show in the SEP console.  It almost seems like there is a firewall issue between the SBS 2008 VM and the Server 2008 Hypervisor.  Do you have any ideas in advance of my next visit?  Thanks.

My Hypervisor is a fully patched Server 2008 R2.  I read on Microsoft Connect about stopping the firewall but not disabling the firewall service will cause blocking.  The post went on to say a reboot corrected the problem.  I have not rebooted the parent.  If I restart the firewall in control panel, what ports should be open?
