Based on your version numbers, I think you are looking at two different products, Symantec Endpoint Encryption (SEE, v8.2.1 mp5) and Symantec Encryption Management Server (SEMS, current version is 3.3.2 mp4). They are not compatible products.
There is a new version of SEE (version 11), but there is currently no direct upgrade path for the clients, as the drive encryption is based on a new design. The server can be upgraded, and will allow management of the existing 8.2.1 mp5 clients, and a direct client upgrade path will be available in a future release.
