hi there,

i ve noteced strange thing on SEP Client:

when i'm going in Help & Support -> Troubleshooting, there is given SEPM's IP addres on management information....
 but on some other computers there is instead of IP Address computer name of SEPM....


why it happening that one part of computers has ip address of SEPM assigned  in SEP client, and other part just computer name?

Well..This is very common and can be due to some internal name resolution or whichever it finds first in Sylink file.However this does not affect SEP-SEPM communication or cause any kind of problem.

if you go to Policies--->policy components--->management server list  and edit the corresponding management server list you can find that the SEPM name and Ip address is present with same priority.Since both are having same priority it will be using one among them...

If your client machine can resolve the computer name of the ip address, then there will be the computer name. Otherwise, there is the ip address of the SEPM.

Vikram i understand that there is no problem between client-server...
just wanted that on all clients there were same address  (i mean IP everywhere or Host name).

arun, please open a new thread for the error with more details.

If you need all clients to show only IP address create a new MSL and assign to all groups.
