  • 1.  Symantec EP New server, migrate users

    Posted Jun 21, 2013 11:51 AM

Hello. We recently built out a new server to host our Symantec EP database and everything went well by using the replicate option > then disabling the services on the old server.

Now, for our laptop images we already have Symantec EP pre-installed but it was pointing to the old server. Once we build our laptop and it boots up, Symantec can't update itself and it shows as "offline" under the troubleshooting option.

Is there anyway to update this for these laptop builds without having to rebuild the image with the Symantec pointing to the new server? I guess the other options would be to update the sylink file as needed.

Need to replace the sylink file.

You can do it from the SEPM, follow this KBA

I already know the Sylink needs to be replaced. My ask is on our image (which has the old sylink) is there anyway for it to know that there's a new server in place without replacing the sylink each and every time?

No. It needs to be updated with a new sylink as well.

    Hello,

On your older image of laptop, you would have to replace the Sylink.xml as well.

What version of SEP 12.1 are you running?

For SEP 12.1 clients older than SEP 12.1 RU2, you need SylinkReplacer for SEP 12.1 which is only available with Symantec Technical Support Team.

However, for SEP 12.1 RU2, you would need to use the Internal feature, check this Article:
