In an effort to move away from imaging computers using RIS, I've installed Ghost Server on my Server 2003 machine. The network I have this server on is a stand-alone, which is only used to image machines. I've already created network boot packages to work with RIS to take advantage of Ghostcast. I can image 1-2 machines fine via Unicast. However, when I select either Directed Broadcast or Multicast, it goes no faster than 15MB\s, as opposed to roughly 500MB\s with Unicast. What am I missing?

    Hi Nathaniel,

Which version of ghost are you using? Is it GSS 1.1 (8.3)?
How is your stand-alone network set up? Are your imaged machines and server machine located on the same hub, switch?

What type of network card is on the imaged machines? And also, which driver are you using for the network card?

    Cheers

    Chris

Just thought of another thing to check.
Do you have any firewall installed on your 2003 server machine? If you do, does turning it off affect the broadcast or multicast speed?

Thanks guys... Actually, my switch wasn't setup to forward broadcast packets. It works now = )
