    My question is--

Is the Boot Disk wizard subject to the licensing agreement? We have a license for 100 consoles and 100 machines per console. Am I able to place a copy of the "One Click Virtual Partition" on every machine concurrently?

The license comes into picture only when you use Ghost client and Ghost console . But again read the agreement.

What DPak writes above is wrong - it's a commonly promulgated untruth which I've corrected dozens of times here on these forums.

What you primarily license with GSS is the Ghost cloning tool; since that was created in the 1990's you have required a client license to use it, which becomes perpetually attached to the machine (allowing it to be cloned multiple times thereafter, unless you use a special one-time-use only license for Ghost sold to computer manufacturers).

Everything else in GSS was written later to add more value to the Ghost cloning tool, and has been bundled with the Ghost cloning tool. Any code in GSS which runs on a client machine - Ghost Walker, GDisk, and the GSS console client - is covered by the same license which allows you to run the Ghost cloning tool on that machine.

There are pieces of GSS which can be run on other machines - Ghost Explorer, the Ghost Solution Suite management console, and the Ghost Boot Wizard - and they are not licensed separately. However, the entire point of these tools is to support running Ghost on the licensed clients, and so as long as you are staying within your licensed client limit, you can run this other code on whatever machines you like to support your use of Ghost on those clients.

So, with those simple facts established, to the original question:

We have a license for 100 consoles and 100 machines per console

Actually, this can't be true as stated; the GSS consoles are not and have never been licensed separately from the clients and do not have a separately sold license type. You only license clients, not consoles. Based on your total client license count you can run as many installations of the console as you need (based on your networking environment) to support the number of clients you have licensed.

In reality, your organization will have some specific total number of client licenses. However many machines that is (be it 100 or 10,000), you can run the Ghost cloning tool to clone that many machines (remember that the license stays attached to a machine once you clone it) . Since the one-click Virtual partition is just another way of running the Ghost cloning tool (or the other parts of Ghost Solution Suite "bundled" with the cloning tool), using the one-click virtual partition on a machine means having one of those client licenses attached to it.

As long as your use of the Ghost cloning tool on machine stays within your total licensed machine count, you're fine. Using the one-click virtual partition is no different to using a boot disk or PXE or for that matter the management console.

    Thanks for the correction
