If you are wondering, whether a server on XP can manage a client on vista, yes it should work fine.

i recommend you to choose Windows 2003/2008/2008 R2 one of them...

    for SEPM server...

its not good idea to run SEPM on Windows XP

It is supportable, but better is you install SEPM on windows 2003 server.

Due to of concurrent connection limit issue i not recommend to install SEPM server on Windows XP.

You can install on any Server Operating System.

I am sorry for missing out the concurrent connections limitation on non-server OSs.

    Hello,

Since you are new with "Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.x"

Please Follow this Article on Fresh Installation of Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) on the XP machine.

Installing and configuring Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 for the first time

It is always recommended when Installing SEPM on the Server carrying XP Operating System, you visit this Article first:

Best practices guide for installing the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) on a Windows XP operating system.

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH91694

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314882

Again, What Service Pack is installed on XP Pro machine?

Microsoft has officially retired XP SP2.  http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?LN=en-gb&C2=1173

To remain secure, I would recommend that all XP systems be upgraded to SP3 and all the latest patches applied!

    Hope that helps!!

    @Naveen31

As you can see, this forum is very capable and willing to help.

BUT, you should definately put a little more effort in your question. Because noone here really knows what your exact problem is, you will recieve a lot of links and how-tos youz can read, but probably will not help you. Your question right now sounds like "I am new to Symantec, tell me everything about it".

So please just take a little time and effort to describe what you need to know in as much detail as you can, and we will be able to help you a lot more efficient.

    Best Regards

    Stephan
