So this is required everytime we install Symantec Installation Manager?

My main purpose of installing it is for me to install Symantec Management Platform and IT Analytics for SEP which have a separte SQL Server, so do I still need to install SQL Server on the server where I will install Symantec Installation Manager?

    Thanks,

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Symantec community.

I would glad to answer your query.

Q.My main purpose of installing it is for me to install Symantec Management Platform and IT Analytics for SEP which have a separte SQL Server, so do I still need to install SQL Server on the server where I will install Symantec Installation Manager?

--> No, it's not mandatory to install SQL server and SEPM on the same machine.

If SQL is on remote machine then install of SQL native client on the SEPM machine is mandatory.

While installing SEPM you will have to choose either of the database, Embedded OR SQL.

Check these article to know more about it.

    That was very informative Chetaan,

just one more thing about this line " No, it's not mandatory to install SQL server and SEPM on the same machine." what I actually asking was if do I still need SQL Server on the server where  I am going to install Symantec Installation Manager, not SEPM.

Can you please answer this one too?

    Thanks,

If SQL is on remote machine then it needs SQL native client installed on local machine, this client will send all the data forwarded to the SQL server. This holds if you are using SEPM or SIM where DB is on remote machine.

    Hi,

One more thing, you said " This holds if you are using SEPM or SIM where DB is on remote machine." is it also the same with SMP? That all I need is the SQL native client if the SQL is on a separate server?

    Thanks,
