What are you trying to do? Fresh installation or upgrade? When exactly did it stop? During the installation or the configuration part? Configuration part starts at 50%. Most often its permissions missing if its erroring out there. Either on database or on the server itself. More info would help.

I am having same problem and I am trying to do a fresh installation. It just ends after trying to extract files from the symantec installation manager and shows the dialog box saying: Symantec Installation Manager Setup Wizard ended prematurely.

Same problem here. Extracts files, goes directly to error message. Fresh install on Server 2012 Datacenter. No log files at the locations mentioned in the link above.

Same problem. Can somebody tell is Windows Server 2012 supported or not? Can't find any official info on this. Checked release notes of 7.5.92 (http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC6314) but not a single word on this.

    Hi,

I am trying to install SIM on Server 2008 Enterprise and getting similar issue.

Installs fails at the start of extracting files and no logs are found infact there is no folder named Symantec under C:\ProgramData

Have checked for pre-reqs which are found to be compliant.

Any guidance / reference would be great.

    Thanks

    Hi,

I just realized the OS version isnt in the support list. Reinstalled to 2008 R2 STD and worked well.

    Thanks

I've had similar issues in the past and 3 things I now do everytime i run SIM:

    Make sure FIPS is disabled

-http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811833  look for the registry keys listed in the last paragraph notes

    -temporarily disable any mcaffee products

-always run SIM with elevated permissions (right click, run as administrators)
