Symantec Live update doesnt work?

Hi,

 

How can we make the live update to work properly? we already exclude in the firewall and proxy all the links and ports that are needed, specially this links:

 

http://liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com
http://liveupdate.symantec.com
ftp://update.symantec.com
https://tses.symantec.com/
 
with the ports: 
TCP: 139, 445, 2967, 8014, 443, 8443, 9090, 8445, 8446, 8444, 1433, 1812, 80
UDP: 137, 138, 39,999
 
Anyone know how? and also we already defined an admin account on the proxy of the live update and the sepm itself.

Hi,

 

please let me know which version you are using of live update?

Check Connectivity between SEP & SEPM:

1. Do a Secars test to Test Connectivity between SEP and SEPM
Testing Communication from an Endpoint Protection client to the Endpoint Protection Manager

2. Get the sylinkmonitor logs to check the communication for any errors
SylinkWatcher and SylinkMonitor - tools for real-time debugging of SPA 5.x and SEP 11.x

Remove corrupt definitions
1. How to clear out corrupted definitions for a Symantec Endpoint Protection Client [http://service1.symantec.com/support/ent-security.... ]

Check if SEPM has Latest Definitions:

1. Open SEPM->Admin->Servers->Local Site
2. Show Liveupdate Downloads
3. Make sure that the date for 32 bit and 64 Definitions for ‘Virus & Spyware Definitions’ is up-to-date.

Hi,

we're trying to update the SEPM, is there any thing to change on your advice? since it's not a SEP update that we're talking? The Live update version is also 12.1 RU2 the same version as the SEPM

What SEP client version are you using? Does the session of Liveupdate giives you any error message?

Can you check in Liveupdate logs for errors?

Hi,

 

The SEP Client version is 12.1 RU2 same version of the SEPM and the Live Update

here are the error from the live update GUI lu1825 lu1806.

Could you post the Lue.log from the client machine? 12.1 RU2 use LU engine and not the Liveupdate any more - you you won't be able to uninstall here anything on the client.

Is the SEPM having similar issues with downloading the defintiions from Internet or are only the SEP clients affected?

Hi, we're not talking about the SEP clients here it's the SEPM that's having some problem.

Ok, in that case try following procedure for LU reinstall on SEPM 12.1:

 

1. Remove Live update from "Add/ Remove Programs"

2. Reboot the machine

3. In Windows Explorer, if they are present delete the following folders, without saving the existing content:

- C:\ProgramData\Symantec\LiveUpdate

- C:\ProgramData\Application Data\Symantec\LiveUpdate

- C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\LiveUpdate

4. Install LU using lusetup.exe (execute with local admin rights - build in administrator)

5. in D:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\bin:

- Type lucatalog -cleanup and press Enter.

- Type lucatalog -forcedupdate and press Enter.

6. in  C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\LiveUpdate start luall.exe (execute with local admin rights)

LU1825: LiveUpdate could not understand how to install this update. You may need to get the latest version of LiveUpdate before you can install this update

You should find it on the installation CD from the 12.1 RU2 installer.

We'd just download the RU2 from symantec, we dont have SEP RU2 Discs can you point me to any link were I can found the latest Live Update Client for SEP 12.1RU2?

Yes, it will be with the installation package - search for the LUSETUP.exe executable.

Hi we already fixed the live update components, except for 1, the Reputation Settings download, there was an error named LU1845, anyone know this?
