Symantec Liveupdate Sources

    Guys i want to share few information here, Hope this is helpful for more of us. I found liveupdate server address from tracert command but need to verify is this static of dynamic address.

    Since they use akamai, I would say no, these will not be static addresses.

    But still most of the ip addresses seems to be static and whenever i try to tracert same Ip's reoccur....

    I used tracert on the same hostnames as above and got different IPs

    Most of the IP are same as i mentioned above

    you might see same for some day, but it does not mean that the IP's are static. Symantec as suggested in this article can change anytime without notice.

    I'm facing a problem that is' liveupdate start failed with error code-536805375.'
    Please , sombody know how to solve this problem tell me ....

    Uninstall liveupdate & Reinstall it and run a repair of SEP client.

    Hello,

    IP addresses to the Akamai are dynamic in nature.

    The actual IP addresses on the Akamai network are subject to change at any time and distributing an authoritative list of current Akamai IP addresses is administratively prohibitive.

    One of the features of the Akamai network is that even when machines become unavailable, Akamai is able to dynamically map users to the closest available server. So, hard coding the Akamai IP addresses into any system is not recommended.

    The  important thing is that NO company would have a  static ip address assigned for it external facing server.

    I have come across secnarios where people want to get  alist of servers so that they can allow them in their firewall and I always recomend them to use url instead of ip address as it is not static.
