Actually, that is not correct. With group expansion enabled, the envelope recipient, which was originally the group address, has been replaced with the addresses of all the group members. This typically does not cause any issues, but in the rare case of someone creating exchange/outlook rules based on the envelope recipient address, then it will matter.
In SMS 8300 Appliance, Symantec has introduced a new feature to preserve the envelope recipient while still performing group and alias expansion for policy reasons. SMS appliance software will be available as a Virtual Machine for production deployment this December as an upgrade path for existing SMS SMTP customers.
