Symantec Mail Security unable to scan email tags it as bad mail and no alert is sent to Admin

I have problems with emails not been delivered to my clients. On the Exchange server log I see the following message:

Source: Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange
    Category: Unscannable
    Event ID: 348
SMTP scanning failed on the message with subject: XXXXX.  This message has been set as bad mail on the SMTP server.

Can anybody explain what exactly is causing this error (if I oush the same email from back up it's delivered successfully)?

Also is there a way to receive alerts for unscannable emails as I have checked all notification setiings and couldn't find anything for "unscannable" within Symantec.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,

This may be due to a time out but I would suggest that you actually call into the Mail Security queue to get further details on why this is happening. I do not believe this to be a SEP issue but a SMSME issue.

You may also want to check some of hte other forums, as I don't know if this is where you'd get the best response...

iF I understand your original question,  you are asking a question about Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange (as opposed to SAV 10 and SCS3.1, both of which have email-scanning, but are not "Mail security for..."

    Best,

    Eric
