i think running the latest version should fix the issue, download MU5 and install it
https://fileconnect.symantec.com
put your serial number, download and install mu5 on this laptop check if that works fine

Are you running with 512 MB

Are you running with 512 MB ram?

I recommend you bump up to a least I gig ram. Even without SEP I would not run 512 on an XP system.

setubond, Can you state some

setubond,

Can you state some things on the Laptop:

PN (This is located on the HP Service Sticker on the bottom of the laptop)

Can you ensure that if your laptop has more than 512mb of memory that you make sure that all the latest drivers are installed for this model, please ensure that the BIOS is up to date. Can you make sure in addition to all of the above that you run a Defragment on the Hard disk.

Thanks,

Michael
