  • 1.  Symantec Management Agent 7.1 getting redirected to old NS 6.5 Server

    We are in the middle of an upgrade to SMP 7.1.  We've pushed the agent to about 50 or so systems currently, and select few are getting redirected back to the old NS Console.  It's not all systems just one or two here and there.  Any suggestions what could be causing this from our 6.5 environment?  Need help ASAP.

    Here's my theory...

    The SMP 7.1 agent receives a task.  Upon task completion or at the scheduled interval, the client refreshes it's task server list.  It finds the old NS 6.5 task server and attaches to it.

    Check that you have disabled Altiris agent rollouts on the 6.5 server.

    I had the same thing but I had only disabled network discovery against our known server VLANs.  I forgot about the collection of "Discovered Computers with No Altiris Agent Installed" as well as the policy that deploying the agents against that collection.

    I also wound up with about 25 servers that were so destroyed by trying to install the NS6 agents on top of the NS7 agents that I wound up having to "aexagentutil.exe /clean" them and then redeploy the NS7 agents.
