  • 1.  Symantec Management Agent Not Registered After Job

    Hello all,

I was working on a laptop that had the Smantec Management Agent installed version 7.6 HF7.  I was trying to prep the system to capture an image.  The job failed so I restarted the system and Windows came backup fine.  However the Symantec Agents are reporting warnings that the Send Basic Inventory and Update Configuration can't process because the agent is not registered yet.  Is there a way to re-register this system or is my best bet to uninstall the agents?  In 7.6 what would be the process to uninstall the agents?  Thanks for the help.

Seems that your Agent is not yet received the machine GUID from the server. It is OK for cases when the Agent is installed not from Notification Server directly. For example by the pull method or by some re-imaging job. In this case the Agent send registration request to the Notification Server (later NS). The NS should then assign the unique identifier to the Agent (the GUID) which could be seen from the Agent Settings page (when received).

In your case it is now depends on the NS when your agent will receive it. If you have a big timeout for configuration update, you could try to perform it manually by clicking "Update Configuration". This will just re-request the registration. If it does not help, then need to check the NS for details regarding your agent, whether it was not blacklisted. If not then update required tasks on NS in order to speed up the registration process.

Thanks for the help.  It did register and was full working until i ran the prepare for image task.  After that it would not communicate with the server anymore.  I went ahead and just removed the agent manually using the uninstallallagents /clean and after that installed it again and looks like i'm back in business.  Thanks for the help.
