Symantec Management Client service not running at startup
I have a client where a few computers (not sure on #) that are having problems with the SMC service. After a reboot, the following is noted in the System Event Log on a Windows XP Dell desktop with RU5 client installed x86:
----------------------------
Event Type: Information
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7036
Date: 3/4/2010
Time: 6:01:53 PM
User: N/A
Computer: ???????
Description:
The Symantec Management Client service entered the stopped state.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
-----------------------------
Trust me, she didn't manually stop the service. How can I troubleshoot why this service is either stopping or not starting correctly on startup? The service is set to Automatic and is set to Restart the Service on the Recovery tab.
Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Michael

Thanks for all the help. To
Thanks for all the help. To reply to the 1st thread, the service does start fine when the message comes up to start it. If I go to services, I can always start the service, it never gives me an error. The ISSUE is that the service, even though it's set to automatic, does not start when booting up Windows. If I go to Services or if I try to open the client, the same error pops up saying the client management service is not running, do you want to start it. If I click Yes,it starts, the shield appears, then the green dot appears, and all is fine.
WHY doesn't the service start at bootup like everyone else's computer in the company? That's my question.
Thank you.
