  • 1.  Symantec Management Platform automatically install SMA to AD Server?

    Hi All,

I just want to know that did the Symantec Management Platform automatically deploys the Altiris Agent (SMA) to Active Diretory Servers?

It's weird that I didn't not deploy the agent to these servers but whenever I checked the console, they appeared with installed agent. It automatically deploys the agent.

Why is that so? Everytime I uninstall and delete these computers, they coming back again and again with installed agent.

    Please Help.

    Thanks in advance,

    Regards,

    JM

No, I don't have any configured scripts. I didn't configuring anything more in the console just to deploy Symantec Agents. And I was sure that I did not deploying this servers.

What will be the possible cause of this? Is this a bug or somewhat?

Check Settings > Agents/Plug-ins > Symantec Management Agent > Settings > Symantec Management Agent install > Scheduled Push to Computers.

I already checked this but this setting is not applied or off. Anything else?

I tried again Uninstalling the agents installed in the AD servers but it keeps coming back again and again. I don't want to install the agents in our AD, but SMP automatically installing it. What was the probable cause of this issue?

    Thanks.

Group Policy? Logon script? Check the times of the install. Is it installed pointing to the correct NS,maybe there's a test NS doing a regular push.

    @andykn101,

this setup is freshly installed, no group policy, no logon script. Nothing configured at all except I import a domain using a Domain Browse lists of SMP.

Is it possible that the Importing of Domain causing this issue? But how? Whenever the SMP import a domain, it automatically installed altiris agent to AD Server?

    JM

The domain import on it's own shouldn't trigger a push install, it's just one way of populating the list of PCs that the Scheduled Push to computers uses.

Maybe check the install times against the Scheduled Push schedule to see if it's working even though it says it's off.

Look in the server log too for the times when the push is occuring. Look on the the clientsfor AeX... logs in the Windows and system32 directories, that may give you a clue too,

Ok I Will check with that. But now I created a policy for the uninstallation of Agents in "All Windows DHCP Server" in which these domain controllers included in this filter.

Thanks for your help. Will keep you posted the update of this issue.
