Symantec Management Platform with SQL Server 2012 Compatibility?

    Hi,

     

    I've checked some forums here and sad to see that the Latest Symantec Management Platform 7.1 is still not supporting Windows SQL 2012 Server. Did the incoming Latest Release of SMP 7.5 is supporting Windows SQL 2012 Server? Well, most of our client have an issue with this since they're database server is in Windows SQL 2012 server not yet supported of SMP 7.1.

     

    When is the latest release of SMP and what are its new features and supported platforms?

    Hi,

    The Symantec Management Platform and Altiris Solutions Support Matrix includes supportability matrices for the Symantec Management Platform (http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO9965). At page 04 you will find the supported SQL versions and editions from NS 6.x to SMP 7.1 SP2 MP1.1 (the current version).

    About the ITMS 7.5, the following SQL Servers will be supported:
    ■ Microsoft SQL Server 2008R2 SP2
    ■ Microsoft SQL Server 2008R2 SP3
    ■ Microsoft SQL Server 2012

    We have our beta 7.5 platform running on SQL 2012.

    I already confirm this to my contact in Symantec Branch here and they said that the upcoming release of SMP 7.5 will support now the SQL 2012. Well, it's a good thing to know from them but maybe I need to see first the release notes of SMP 7.5 to prove this compatibility.

    SQL 2012 is supported on ITMS 7.5. Many beta testers are using this same environment.

    About SQL 2012 support, this information is official and is documented on ITMS 7.5 Beta Guide v2 available to approved beta tester on SymBeta (http://symbeta.symantec.com).

    Not SMP but I've heard that another DS 6.9 Service Pack late this year will allow 6.9 to run on SQL 2012.  I can't find confirmation of this but it would be worth asking about.

    Just to close my thought the release notes for DS 6.9 SP5 MR3 state that DS 6.9 now supports SQL 2012.
