  • 1.  Symantec Messaging gateway appliance unable to communicate.

    Hi,

    We have an appliance for Symantec Messaging gateway and initially we were able to configure it and it was OK.

    Later we faced an issue with its password and we were unable to recover it hence had to restore it to factory settings.

    After the restore we reconfigured it and and we are able to log in but we are unable to access it through the webconsole.

    When we checked the device it is unable to reach the gateway. Tried to ping its own IP it is working but unable to reach other devices from the appliance.

    DELETED ALL the configuration and tried to reconfigure it but still the same.

    Connected the network cable to different port on the device still unable to reach.

    Restarted the device still the same.

    Please assist what can be done.

    If the scanner cannot even ping its own default gateway, you have some sort of issue on your network. Make sure you are providing all the correct information regarding subnet mask. If there are any VLANs, make sure the port you are connecting the appliance to is assigned to the correct VLAN.

    Thanks for the reply, We have made sure all details are correct and the VLAN is correct. We have another appliance a secondary one and it is working fine even if we switch the ports. i am suspecting some thing to be done on the appliance. Please suggest.
