Symantec Messaging Gateway - removal of prvs

I recently started using BATV to filter out unwanted bounce email spam.  I configured the feature as per instructions, including seed value, email policy, and group policy.  The validation works, and filters out the spam bounces.  Remaining problem is that SMG does not remove the prvs or validation tag from legitmate returned failed emails, or NDRs, which means that those NDRs are not sent to the sender, although the postmaster email account receives a copy.  Without the removal of the prvs, SMG forwards the NDR to our Exchange server using the Return to address that includes the private signature, such as prvs=xxxxxxx=sender@domain.com, and Exchange cannot deliver it, for obvious reasons.

I am using the latest version of SMG, as a virtual appliance.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Jim

Are you using version 9.5.x?

Hi Jim,

There was an issue in versions prior to 9.5.x if the NDR did not come from a null (<>) sender, but this issue was resolved in version 9.5.x.

If you are using version 9.5.x and still experiencing this problem, then I suggest contacting support with debug level logs.

Regards,

Adnan

Thanks

Thanks Adnan - I have 9.5.0-23, which, according to the GUI, is the lastest version.  I even tried a content rule based on that prior problem, but it was not the issue.  Also, the problem is with all NDRs, not just the null senders.

I'll go ahead and contact support, unless someone else here has any other ideas.

Jim
