    Should I be able to see more than SEPM reports and the home page dashboard when using SPC?

    via SPC directly, thats what we give you, just the reporting pages. 
    If you click the Symantec Protection Center logo in the top left, you will get a drop down, from there you can click the link to your SEPM, which will open the web console in the same browser window, but also with a ilnk at the top to enable you to skip back to SPC and launch another product GUI, or jump into reporting for another product, then jump straight back to SEPM.
