    Dear,

    I`ve got a problem while offline updating Symantec Protection Engine 7.0, I can sum up things as following: 

    • Symantec license is still valid
    • "Live update content" option is disabled on Symantec web management (https://localhost:8004)
    • "setup-iu.bat" was already run and "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Symantec Shared\VirusDefs\CSAPIDefs\" folder exists and also have files up-to-date in this folder after applying the offline update package
    • “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Symantec\InstalledApps\AVENGEDEFS” got correct value (C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Symantec Shared\VirusDefs\CSAPIDefs)
    • Network card is enabled (but not connecting to Internet)
    • Turned off UAC and also set write permission on all related folder of Symantec
    • “Symantec Endpoint Protection” service is still running and be able to scan files though. 

    Now it ended up with the only problem that Symantec cannot be updated with offline method is looks like it cannot sync the def. files FROM the shared folder of Symantec ("C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Symantec Shared\VirusDefs\CSAPIDefs\") where the offline update package copied TO the engine def. database of Symantec (C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Scan Engine\Definitions\Antivirus\VirusDefs)

    When I manually copied def. files from "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Symantec Shared\VirusDefs\CSAPIDefs\" to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Scan Engine\Definitions\Antivirus\VirusDefs", the def. date of Symantec was refreshed and shown correctly. But it never is a option for me, I want it to be copied automatically whenever I apply the definition files provided by Symantec (I downloaded at ftp://ftp.symantec.com//AVDEFS/symantec_antivirus_corp/rapidrelease/symrapidreleasedefsi32.exe )

    I am running out of idea of the reason why this issue is happening on my side. Can you please take a look and give me some clues?

    Please be aware that you've posted in the SEP forums, rather than those specifically for Scan Engine.  Perhaps you'd recieve a better reponse posting in either of the below forums:

    That said, have you tested out using the Rapid Relase defs from the below page instead?

    Which provides the below link:

    http://definitions.symantec.com/defs/rapidrelease/symrapidreleasedefsv5i32.exe

    The different file name seems to suggest a new "Intelligent Updater" is used in Protection Engine 7.* for Win.
