This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi

What are the latest Symantec tape drive drivers? I have 5.1.37.0 installed (12/02/2008); is there a newer driver available and how do I obtain it?

I ran live update and installed all the latest patches, so am now on 2010 R3 SP1 with the latest hotfixes. I also ran tapeinst.exe. The tape driver is still the same version.

Thanks

I already have Hotfix 173790 installed, which according to the article contains the latest drivers.

Does this mean I am on the very latest Symantec tape drive driver (12/02/2008)?

OK. This leads me on to my

OK. This leads me on to my next issue.

Most of my backup to tape jobs do not finish unless I have the BE management window open, and I am refreshing the monitoring page. After a few minutes it will say 'please remove the disk from the drive and click ok'.

For example, I had a job last week that usually only takes a few hours, but it started on Friday night, and when I came back in on Monday it was just sitting there. It did not complete until I went to monitoring and refreshed. There were no alerts to respond to.

It never used to do this - the jobs would fnish on their own and eject the tape.

What could be causing this?
