Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition

  • 1.  Symantec, what do you mean by advertising through pop-ups on my client's computers?

I am an MSP.  I explicitly contracted through distribution to join the ExSP program to license Symantec Endpoint Small Business Edition 2013 (Symantec.cloud) for my clients.

I have sold this product by its name: Symantec, Business Edition - so that my clients understand that they are getting protection from a leading vendor, and with a caliber of support that is higher than a consumer version.

So what do I find popping up on my clients' computers?

This advertisment from, of all places, NORTON!

What the F@#$ are you corporate idiots thinking?

I am supposed to manage the account, provide my clients with the appropriate information about going to a new computer, and transfering licenses. NOT YOU - AND CERTAINLY NOT NORTON!

I am livid that someone in your marketing department thought this was a good idea.  I've received dozens of calls asking me if this is "safe" or if they should click on the link, or if they've been hacked, or why I've sold them a product by a different vendor.

After the debacle with Lenovo and Snapfish, you would think you would have some common sense.

100 licenses are going to disappear on you very quickly if you do not stop this stupidity immediately.

At least I got a response:

    Hello

I am following up on the case we have together. The engineering/development have located and resolved the condition that was creating/allowing these popups. The condition has been resolved and will no longer occur. Thank you so much for bringing it to our attention. If I can be of more assistance please let me know. If not I will close this case for you. Thank you.
