Symantec_update folder growing very large

Created: 21 Feb 2008 • Updated: 21 May 2010 | 4 comments

My Symantec_update folder appears to be growing larger and larger by the day.  It's 26GB right now, and looks like there are about 250MB each day of more updates with names like:

  • 1203435351jtun_ennluvdb.x86
  • 1203435351jtun_ennlu.lin
  • 1203435351jtun_ennlu.sol
  • etc.

Can I just delete the old files in this folder?  Is there a way to set up System Center to remove old files?

At this rate, our disk will be full in a couple weeks...

Have you installed the lastest Maintenance Release for symantec endpoint security ?

we have this problem before installing maintenance release and now the size is 1Gb. Before the size is 20 Gb.

I've just installed MR6, which upgraded System Center to version 10.1.6.6000, but still have the same problem.  The Symantec_update folder is still humongous.  Is there somewhere in the configuration where this path is set to save updates to?  I can't seem to find any reference to that file path anywhere in the System Center configuration tool.

I am curious if you were able to resolve this LARGE file situation ?
We are having the same issues and need to free up space ASAP.
Thanks in advance
