SYMBDSNAP_SDK[5475]

Created: 10 Jun 2013 | 4 comments

I am using RHEL 5.6 Tikanga and in the system logs daily I am getting the following error:

SYMBDSNAP_SDK[5475]: Failed to open device: /dev/symbdsnapctl, errno:2.

Backup Exec runs a job to back up a file from the Linux Server.

Backup Exec is running on a Windows server, I could really use a solution for this problem.

I have attached a screenshot of the error logs.

Thanks in advance.

Please confirm that you are running a Supported File system

AOFO for linix is supported for RHEL5.6 for the following (Ext 2, Ext 3, Ext 4 Reiser FS, JFS, VxFS)

Pages 10 and 11 of the 2012 SCL

Thanks for your reply Donald.

I am unable to open the attached link - HTTP 403 Forbidden.

I have checked the file system on the server: it is Ext 3 except for one partition which is: tmpfs.

Thanks

Are you able to ping to and from this box... Media server --> linux box  /  linux box --> media server

Also is the remote machine added to backup exec by I.P address.. If not please do so and reattempt the backup

Lastly has the problematic job ever been successful in the past or is this a newly created job?

I hope this posting was helpful

I would suggest you to open a support case and investigate this.
