  • 1.  SYMEFA consuming all physical memory

    We are running SEP and have noticed that there are 8 SYMEFA files that are 2gb each and are consuming all the memory on the server.

    Since we cant delete these files, what would be causing so many instances to be created?

    How can we prevent this from happening.

    This server opens 1000's tif's of files every day ( not sure if this is related to the issue)

    What is the exact version of the client? There was a bug in an older version around this.

    12.1.6608.6300

    Looks like you're on the latest version. This file is used for reputation lookups and keeps track of hashes, virtual image exception, and few other things. As far as I know, it is part of the core install and there isn't a way to disable it.

    You may want to talk with support about this to see if this is normal behavior or not.

    Another thing I would do is run the symhelp tool on the box to see if there are any errors:
