I am seeing the following error listed in the SEP Client Management Logs - Control Log:

Sysfer exception: .\ApiEngine.cpp 1596 Sysplant error!

Can anyone tell me what this means or how to go about troubleshooting it? Ever since this error started appearing, System Lockdown has not been working. Thank you.

Sysplant is application and Device control driver/service.

If its having error most probably ADC will also not work.

On how many clients do you see this issue. If its few try reparing and rebooting the client.

    Hello,

Could you please let us know if this is happening on only 1 machine or all machines??

If this is happening only on 1 machine, please Uninstall Network Threat Protection and Application and Device Control, Restart the machine and Reinstall the Network Threat Protection and Application and Device Control again and Restart the Machine again.

    This could be done by:

    1) Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs

    2) Highlight Symantec Endpoint Protection

    3) Click on "Change"

    4) Click on Modify

    5) Uninstall Network Threat Protection and Application and Device Control.

    6) Click on Finish

    7) Restart the machine

    8) Perform the Steps 1-8 again, however, this time to Install Network Threat Protection and Application and Device Control.

    Hope that helps!!

After checking the SEP Manager, I do see that I have multiple computers where this is happening.

I reinstalled Network Threat Protection & Application and Device Control on a test machine, as per your instructions. However, the same error message still appears. I also noticed an additional message in the client's logs:

    "File fingerprint list is full"

Where do we go from here? Thank you.

I understand how to work with fingerprints, and am using this functionality for all of my clients. But I don't understand what your link has to do with the "File fingerprint list is full" message.

Are there limitations in the fingerprint system that I am hitting? For my test computer, I have 84 File Fingerprint lists assigned. Based on what I see in the File Fingerprint Lists screen in the SEP Manager, I would say there is 0.4 MB worth of data in these files.

    Thank you.

No, this is happnening on both Windows XP and 7. I have a different client group for each OS, and both groups are using different Fingerprint lists.

I do not have the Backup Exec client installed.

    Take care.
