We are using Altiris Deployment Solution 7.1 SP1a MR1 (7.1.2316). We are relatively new to Deployment Solution, and currently our basic job is something like this for imaging machines:
-Reboot to PXE
-Deploy Image
-Reboot to Production
-Apply System Configuration
We have noticed an issue where sysprep does not seem to be completing; we've narrowed it down to after the image is deployed, it reboots into production, and then sysprep starts its thing. At this point, the "reboot to production" task has completed (according to console) so the apply system configuration task is next in line. It looks like during the various stages of sysprep, the Altiris Agent is catching the apply system configuration task and it joins it to the domain, changes computer name, reboots, etc. and causing the machine to be in something like a "not finished sysprep" state -- it is typically logged in as Administrator and sitting there with a "system customization" dialog box.
Removing the apply system configuration task solves this problem, but I guess I'm just wondering if others experience this as well and what their work around is? Right now I'm thinking of creating some type of task in between the reboot to production and the apply system configuration that has a 20 minute "sleep" or something similar.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
