Attempting to install ServiceDesk7.  Make it all the way to System Check and ASP.NET Requirement fails.

    The error I get is:

The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure.

The remote server returned an error:  (500) Internal Server Error.

Anyone know how to fix or get around this?

try running an iisreset and re-running the validation step. I've had to do this a handful of times when this step fails.

I've tried that many times.  Both "iisreset /restart" and "iisreset" by itself (in fact, I've seen that listed both on here and elsewhere via Google).

Trying to install on Windows 2003 R2 Standard x64 (SP2).  This box is also running a DS 6.9SP3 instance and SQL 2005 SP2.

We probably installed this solution 4 times before the got the combination correct:

We finally started with a clean box installed then installed IIS then .Net with no updates then we followed the following KB articles to the letter and it worked:

How to clean install ServiceDesk after a failed prior install
    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO26042

How to Install and run ServiceDesk 7.0 MR2 with a domain account instead of a local system account
    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO31346

This may be useful if you are changing from Helpdesk to ServiceDesk.

Was hoping I wasn't going to have to build another box for this.  Thanks for the suggestions though.

I ran into this.  I took a shortcut that seemed to the trick.  I removed IIS, re-added it then re-installed ASP.NET (%systemroot%\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0xxxxx\aspnet_regiis.exe -i")

That did the trick for me.  To note my Service Desk server is x64.
