System Drive Running Out Of Space While Exporting Layer

Created: 14 Mar 2014 • Updated: 15 Mar 2014 | 2 comments
This issue has been solved. See solution.

Given:

  • 25 GB System Drive (C)
  • 100 GB Virtualization Drive (V)
  • and a layer of 30 GB

the system runs out of space while exporting the layer from SWV admin 7.5. I am assuming the admin is using the C drive for temporary storage while preparing files for export.

Is there any way to direct where the temporary files are stored, or another way around this problem?

When I run into situations like this I either increase the size of the system drive or adjust the tmp and temp environment variables so they use a larger drive.

Apparently SWV uses C:\Windows\Temp, which didn't seem to be linked to an environment variable. I copied the folder to another partition and the replaced it with a symbolic link (specifically, a junction) to the copy using Link Shell Extension.

Thanks for getting me on the right track, though.
