  • 1.  System Tray indicates scanning all emails

    Outlook 2010, PGP 10.2

    When one of my users receives or sends an Encrypted email the System Tray notification indicates it's scanning through hundreds of emails, many times the notification bubble stays up for so long that it locks up PGP and Outlook.

    This is becoming more and more problematic, any ideas?

    Are all the emails its scanning actually encrypted?  You can remove the notification bar if that's what you want to do, or are you saying that you think PGP Desktop is incorrectly notifying you, or incorrectly scanning non-encrypted emails?

    Thank  you for the response.

    I find it difficult to believe that all of the emails it's scanning are encrypted.  She only has one client she uses PGP for.  But I can't be 100% certain.  Even if they were all encrypted why would it re-scan them all everytime a new email came in?

    It shouldn't, it would only scan new emails when they come in.  There are some rare UI bugs with PGP Desktop 10.2, have you upgraded to MP2?

    I don't think I have.  How would I know?  Forgive me but we only have a handful of users so PGP gets little attention in our organization.

    MP2 is 10.2.1 [Build 4869] so see in Help > About to determine your exact version.  If not, upgrade to the latest by downloading it from fileconnect.symantec.com using your license key.

    If you can't find the upgrade you might need to contact customer care for instructions on where to get the upgrade, assuming your license is eligible.
