Hi there,

We had a strange problem the other day with our Exchange system.

We use the Exchange Agent with BExec10 - and we started to notice that the partition which holds our Exchange transaction logs was down to a minimal amount.

The partition is 36 gig - YES GIG and the transaction logs were taking up just a mere 500 meg - YES MEG.

So that should leaves HEAPS of room - BUT Windows was reporting only 30 meg - YES MEG - FREE space.

When i looked closely - it was the SYSTEM VOLUME INFORMATION folder that contained loads of MASSIVE files, 4 gig 2 gig, 3 gig etc - that was taking up the space.

We stopped the Backup Exec and Exchange services to investigate - we noticed that it stopped something called the Exchange VSS Snapshot Writer.

When this happened, and we looked back into the SYSTEM VOLUME INFORMATION folder - the files had gone - and we had regained the disk space.

What could have caused this!? Failed backups?

I am PUZZLED!!!

Thanks!
