Tape catalog is taking too long.

I have a HP MSL8096 at my office that I did a backup job on with 2 tapes. I then shipped the 2 tapes to our DR site that has an HP Ultrium 4-SCSI. I inventoried both tapes on the DR library successfully. BUT, when I started the catalog for one of the tapes, it is only running at 450MB/min. It starts out at like 1,8000MB/min but then slows down. Can anyone tell me why it is taking this long to catalog only 700GB of data, from 1 tape?
BOTH SERVERS
Windows 2003 SP2 x86
Backup Exec 11d

Hi
It depend upon the tape drive . Check if it getting stuck n specific byte count .
If yes then got to Tools| optiond |catalog and uncheck the option to use storage media catalog .

Hello Ron
Hello Ron,
to answer your question the other site BE doesnot have that catalogs hence it recreats it by reading the catalogs on the media hence its running slow however Tools| optiond |catalog and uncheck the option to use storage media catalog will take comparitavely long time as it will read all the data on the tape and than will recreate the catalogs.
Hope this answer's your question
If you are able to copy the
If you are able to copy the catalog files over to the DR site that may help you some. If you can, copy the catalog files over to the DR site, stop/restart the BE services, then the tapes will not need to be cataloged.
