Hi ALL,
Do the tape drives have WWN on them?
My media server has a HBA card. That HBA has a WWN number which is zoned at switch with the cables coming from EACH DRIVE.
On switch media server WWN number is zoned with drives ______?
Drive also have a wwn number?

Yes, it is a unique hardware identifier. However, some libraries allocate the WWN to the slot the drives fit into. This is neat, as it means when a drive is replaced, the WWN does not change and therefore no zoning change is required. I guess in this case, the library 'over-rides the WWN on the drive.

Any particular reason why you are repeating the exact same questions?

@ Martin:Then what is the difference between DDrive Serial number and Drive WWN?

Difference between serial number and WWN?
NBU uses serial number to determine unique device and map to different media servers. (See SSO manual)
WWN is used by your SAN admin for zoning.
Please provide the OS commands to see the WWN of my tape drive?
Extract from my answer in your previous post:
What is the WWN here for tape drives?
Device Inquiry string does not display WWN. As you can see - the field is empty.
SAN Administrators will use third-party tools to see WWN.
Which part of the above is unclear?

Are there any OS commands to see WWN of tape drives attached to my media server.?
No.
As explained in your previous post - the WWN is part of the interface card, not part of the Device Inquiry string that is reported by OS and NBU commands.
I have suggested on 3 October 2012 that you ask your SAN administrator for quick overview of your environment. Have you done this yet?
We have also pointed you to various resources on the web - have you tried to use any of the links? Or Google? Or Wikipedia?
