What is in the bptm log on the media server

/usr/openv/netbackup/logs/bptm

Also check the os system messages file  / event logs if windows

Also check :

/usr/openv/netbackupdb/media/errors file on the media server

(windows - <install path>\veritas\netbackup\db\media\errors )

Also, what details tdo you see in the details tab for the job in activity monitor.

The 'guide' above is reasonable, but for this issue do NOT update the device mappings file, that will not be the issue and unnecessary changes should not be made.

Windows XP? I guess not!

Please add VERBOSE entry to ...\Veritas\volmgr\vm.conf

Stop/start NBU Device Management Service.

Verify that ..\Veritas\NetBackup\logs\bptm folder exists. Create folder if not.

Next time drives goes DOWN, check Event Viewer System and Application log for errors.
