1) Make sure that the tape library is showing up in the Windows Device Manager as an Unknown Medium Changer with a Microsoft driver and the tape drive has a Symantec driver.  Both must be be functioning correctly in the Windows Device Manager before BE can use them.

2) Run the manufacturer's diagnostics utility against the tape library/drive.  Make sure that you select the write test and have stopped all the BE services beforehand.

BTW, if you need urgent help, you should log a support call with Symantec.  Do not rely on this forum for urgent matters.

Have you either put barcode labels on your tapes or right-click on the slots and label them?

hi PKH, all the tapes already put barcode but still not detect..FYI, i already configured with tape library(Autoloader) ,installed medium changer, and rebooted server and restarted BE services and currently im running inventory for the robot..

If you are using barcode labels, then you don't need to inventory your tape, a scan will do as well and it is a lot faster.  Make sure that your barcode labels conform to the standard dictated by your tape library manufacturer.

Did you run the manufacturer's diagnostic test?

Why are you asking for updates when you did not reply whether you have done all the trouble-shooting steps that I have suggested earlier

sorry for late replied, i just done perform Diagnostics slot to slot and status was incompatible magazine..pls advice

You would need to get your vendor to get the tape library to work properly. Otherwise BE cannot use it.

we already check with vendor Dell and there no error with tape library and we already plugin the tape library to another server and its working fine

...if your Dell diagnostic tool is advising that you have a magazine error, then the problem seriously isn't related to either Windows or Backup Exec. These tools run directly against the hardware. Go back to Dell with screenshots/logs of your error and ask pkh suggested, get them to replace the library.

Also asking for updates minutes after posting doesn't help much...people have jobs, and this is basically a community-run forum where it is best-effort.

Thanks!

I don't know how you or Dell can say that the library is o.k. The diagnostics do not say that your library is o.k.

...if you plugged it into another server and it works, did you check the card that it plugs into?

Thanks!
