Tapes wont stay in Media Sets

Using a Windows 2003 Server and a robotic tape library I have attempted to schedule backups to the following tapes. For instance, I seperate into three media sets 3 LTO 2 Ultrium tapes for each backup. Each back is set to use the media from one of the sets. This is done so that for all three backups none of the tapes are overwritten until each cycle is completed. However, I create a backup job using the first media set and it selects three tapes from the second. On the next backup job I had selected the second media set and it uses three tapes from the third set. Finally on the last job aimed at the third set, it uses two tapes from the first media set and a random tape. Its happened like this several times. How do I keep tapes in a media set permanently or if that's not possible what actions should I take so that I could perform a backup on sets of three tapes on three separate days?

if you have three media sets, that is three separate jobs, right?

In that case, partition the library, and point each job a different partition

Under device manager go to Robotic Libraries, then highlight library. Click on it with the right mouse button and go to partition or select partition from the menu on the left of the window.

It is a bit cumbersome but have a fiddle and you will pick it up quite quickly. basically all you do is click on the slot where you want your first partition to start, then the second etc.

Yes, this was helpful. I'm using a Dell Powervault 132t that has 22 slots. However, it will only allow me to partition the first 8 slots in Backup Exec. Any ideas what could be the problem?
