Veritas Backup Exec V10.0 Rev 5520
Microsoft Small Business Server 2003
I have scheduled a daily backup of our exchange server to our NAS device. One day the backup completes correctly, the next day it fails with the following message:
Backup- \\NOLAN2003\Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes Storage device "Exchange" reported an error on a request to write data to media.
Error reported:
There is not enough space on the disk.
V-79-57344-34034 - An attempt to write database end of media has failed.
The next day the backup works, then fails and so on.....
There is ample space available on the NAS so I am confused as to why this fails every second day.
Any clues??

Hello,
Are you backing up to the same device everyday? Since when does the problem occur? Check if you get any errors in the Windows eve,t logs.
Refer to the following technote:
Backup Exec returns an error in the backup job log stating "Tape access reached a file mark."

If the issue persists, revert with details.

I think I may have sorted out the problem for myself.
The error seems to be with the size of the backup to disk file. I increased the size and the backup has worked for two days in a row.
I will monitor until the end of the week and post another message if the problem is still not solved.
