    While installing SEPM 12.1 ,what has to be given in the field Email Server if we have an Gmail account.

    You dont need to give any email ID.

    Port 465 should work for the mail server settings.
    From the SEPM server...

    Open a command prompt.

    Telnet smtp.gmail.com 465
    If it is successful, than you have no issues.

    If it FAILS, you will need to configure your firewall, either perimeter or SEP or Windows in order to allow access through port 465.

    It's that simple.

    basically IE is the requirement.

    My Connecion to Internet is through Proxy .

    if you are able to browse through IE using Proxy then it would take those by default

    But I have tried all the ports 25,465 & 567.Nothing is working .I am not able to ping smtp.gmail.com through all these ports

    Providing an email ID is required to receive alerts and reports and reset the admin's password, you may not use such features but others may find them very useful.

    As  said by MrRafeeq,other sites even Symmantec Home page is opening in the AV Server thro IE via Proxy.But Test mail is getting failed.Help needed

    it is time you use WireShark or equivalent tool to identify the point of failure in your networking.
