Testing Windows 8

This issue has been solved. See solution.

So far, it's a "no go" I want to know if there are any versions at this time that I can install SEP on  W8 machine.

using 12.1.11.401  RU1 MP1

SEP 12 RU2 supports windows 8.

You need to go to 12.1 RU2. Check this link, should be all that you need:

Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1. RU2 is released and supports Windows 8 and Windows 2012.

You can find the latest version of Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.RU2 from:

Upgrade and migration paths:

Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.2 (RU2) can be updated without problems through the following actions:

  • Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.1101.401 (RU1 MP1)
  • Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.1000.157 (RU1)
  • Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.671.4971 (RTM)
  • Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.x (can upgrade to Enterprise)
  • Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition 12.0
