Is there a How To available on manual uninstalling BEX 9.1?

Created: 26 Jan 2005 • Updated: 22 May 2010 | 1 comment

Hello all,

i have here a problem with the Veritas Backup Exec 9.1 installation routine.

the system:

Win 2003 Server Standart (member in domain)
MS SQL 8.0 (thats 2000 afaik) also used as DB for Veritas.

what happend?:

after a "Update" of the SQL DB Vertitas couldn`t find the DB anymore. Media and Job service doesnt start. All tries to repair/recover the DB wont work.

Note: In BEUtil.exe the DB was still found, and could be saved, reorg, compressed, new access rights, etc be given, as long as there wasnt the media or job service involved.

Then i tried to uninstall Veritas to Install it again, but it stoped with the error that the SQL server isnt available. And after that the Veritas installer complains that he needs to know where the original installfiles are and that there was a transforms error.

solution?

i guess i need to do a manual uninstall (read: having fun in the registry + deleting stuff) to clean up the mess. i tried to search for that in the KB, but the only answers i found were for earlier versions of BEX, and that is not exact enough for what i need ;)

would be nice if anyone could point me to a HowTo or a BestPractice.

thanks in advance and greets

ParityBit

Hi,

Manual un-install of Veritas backup exec software requires editing the registry which may be dangerous if handled incorrectly.

The procedure of manually uninstalling the software will require personal attention of a VERITAS representative.

Hence we kindly request you to contact us through your local support number. You can see a list of support numbers at our support web site:
