  • 1.  Is there an office plug in for SAV 10x as there was in older versions of Norton?

    I have a customer that is complaining that her office documents aren't begin scanned every time they are opened. She claims the scan runs on her home PC but I'm not convinced she is running the  same version. Is there any way to enable this functionality?

    There is nothing known as office plugin. Even with SEP.

    It's the Autoprotect which is what the AV is all about. Whenever a file is accessed, Its loaded up in memory and that is where the AP intercepts it.

    If you are talking about the email scan, It sure is there with SAV as well as a plugin.

    I am not sure but I think your referring to the plug-in/add-in. Verify it by going to Tools, Options, Advance Options, Click Add-in Manager. You should see Symantec Antivirus there. I have SEP and I have an entry here "Symantec Antivirus Outlook Protection" It should be in by default.

    not the email scan.

    Sandeep, this page refers to it as the "Office plug-in", this is what I am talking about.

    Does this feature exisit in SAV? My customers want to see her documents being scanned every time she opens them.

    Nope, This feature does not exist with SAV \ SEP. If it did, Irrespective of the user given the choice to configure it, There should have been officeav.dll which is not present with SAV and SEP.

    *Edited: Her documents will be scanned everytime she opens them , Irrespective of office ot pdf or any other format provided she has the Auto Protect turned on.

    Hi rjade, please verify the AV client used so that we can check, you can see the version by going to control panel, add remove programs. It is much easier to see there. Check if it's Symantec Endpoint Protection or Norton.

    This feature is not available in SAV/SEP  corporate edition antivirus.

    Hi Bijay, I think SAV/SEP still scan any type of document by Auto-protect feature.
