I am very interested in the dedupe option available using Symantec OpenStorage, and have lots of questions:

1. how is the Symantec version different from, say, the Nexenta version?
2. Is OpenStorage really open architecture, or something proprietary?
3. Are there hosted cloud partners available so that I could duplicate deduped backups to the cloud for long term retension?
4. How does the client side dedupe option perform versus the server side?
